For å optimalisere insulinopptaket, redusere nedbrytning av insulin og forebygge blokkering av settet, bør Medtronic Extended slangesettet og reservoaret byttes opptil hver 7. dag, eller i henhold til anbefaling fra helsepersonell7. Ved bruk av Medtronic Extended bør alarmen for settbytte på pumpen slås på til hver 7. dag for å unngå forvirring.
